My Favorite Recent Music

Hey guys! I’m so sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I just realized I haven’t done a music post in forever, and so much awesome music has come out so far in 2016, and I wanted to share some of my recent favorites. So, without further ado, my favorite songs that have come out recently.

“Write On Me” by Fifth Harmony

If you guys know me, you know that Fifth Harmony is my LIFE! I mean, they’re five women of color who stand for equality of all kinds and who aren’t afraid to speak their minds. (Wow, never intended for that to rhyme!) You may be familiar with their recent chart-topping hit “Work From Home” (which, for the record, is SO much better than the Rihanna version). Their new album, 7/27, is out on May 27th. Be sure to check it out, because these girls are blowing up right now!

“Never Forget You” by Zara Larsson and MNEK

Zara Larsson is an 18-year-old artist from Sweden. I had never heard of her until this catchy pop anthem came on radio airwaves, and I sure wish I had heard of her earlier, because she’s really good! I guarantee that once you listen to this song, you will “Never Forget” it!

“Lost Boy” by Ruth B

I usually like more high-energy songs than this, but I think it’s important to have some more soft, mellow songs on my playlist as well. In “Lost Boy,” Ruth B’s angelic voice tenderly weaves the story of a Lost Boy from Peter Pan. This song is especially perfect for those of us *insert girl raising hand emoji here* who are tired of stupid boy-meets-girl love songs and who want to hear more meaningful stories on the radio instead.

“Cheap Thrills” by Sia

Sia is one of my favorite artists because not only does she have a one-of-a-kind voice, she also writes all of her own music and comes up with all of her own concepts. I never expected to hear a more reggae sound from her, but it totally works, and this is a fun, radio-friendly track. I anticipate this becoming one of the big hits of this coming summer.

“Formation” by Beyonce

I would be arrested by the FBI if I didn’t include “Formation” on this list. Beyonce is the queen of the world and she slays my life, and this song is awesome. That’s all I have to say.
